Great Summer Weekend!

Brian has been sick this week (hand, foot, and mouth disease...seriously??), so after a week of being housebound, we were ready to get out!

Today, we joined some new friends from church to hang out at a local private lake for the day. Both of the kids are teething (not fair!) and have not been sleeping well, so we hoped they would be okay for a day of fun. They were, for the most part. There were lots of tears from Abby, but Joshua caught a quick nap in the Ergo and was good as gold for the rest of the day.

A highlight of the day was getting out in the canoe. Last time we attempted this, Abby cried the entire time. This time, she loved it!

Look at the character this kid is becoming. She was trying to twirl the tube like a hula hoop.

She also cracked us up by crying out, mid-tantrum, "Oh no! The car is on the grass. That's silly. Car's aren't allowed on the grass!" She seemed genuinely distressed by this!]

Joshua hung out on a blanket and explored toys, dirt, grass, etc. He has just started throwing his hands above his head and smiling. I'm not sure what he's thinking, but I would sure like to know.

I feel like every picture of Joshua needs a caption. It always seems like he has something to say.

This week also brought the first harvest from our garden...snap peas. Abby loves them, as you can see.

None of the peas even make it into the house. Abby helps me pick them, and then sits in the backyard and gobbles them up. I'm going to have to plant more next year.

We also played in the rain one day. Do you remember loving the feel of the rain on your face as a kid?

What would a heat wave be without playing with water?

You know your kids are embracing the summertime when a bath is suddenly a necessary end to every day!

Joshua is training to be a charismatic worship leader. Praise the Lord! Lift those hands to heaven! hahaha.
