We have been meaning to get pictures on the blog of Aunt Paulapalooza for a few weeks, and finally got around to it. Here's the explanation for those of you wondering what exactly Aunt Palapalooza was...One of our Titan Traverse students has an Aunt Paula who lives nearby. On her property is a lake in which she and her husband do a lot of waterskiing. So, they invited TT over for a BBQ and afternoon of waterskiing. The day became known as Aunt Paulapalooza.
Here's Brian giving the waterskiing a go...
He did a great job. I didn't attempt the waterskiing. The water was FREEZING and someone had to take pictures! :-)Titan Traverse has been running all-campus trips for the past few weekends. It's a way to get students involved in the beginning of the year, and a great way to get to know them. The first weekend was a climbing trip. Brian reported that it went very well. They ran two groups of students to the climbing site that day, and were all packed up just before it started to rain. Great timing!
The next weekend was a canoeing trip. I went along on that one. It's been a long time since I've paddled. We had 14 students come, and we spent the day on the Slippery Rock. We were worried about it being cool, but the sun was out, and it was a gorgeous fall day! We only had two casualties - one boat got caught up on a root and flipped. But, the students had a great attitude, we got them dressed in dry clothes, and finished without anymore mishaps. Except the part where Brian's steering (and out lack of communication!!) got us totally stuck on a rock. It took some manuvering to get us off, especially since neither of us wanted to get out of the boat! We made it eventually, though.
This past weekend was a caving trip, and it was booked to capacity. Caving is an unique experience, and many people seem to be fascinated with the idea, so there was a lot of interest in the trip. Brian and I decided to sit out this one, and we had a quiet weekend at home (imagine that!!). Yesterday, we spent the day hiking at the cabin with Cory and Chrissy. Since we were with Cory, our "liesurely Sunday hike" turned into a 7 mile hike. I should have seen that coming! :-) It was very nice, though, and a beautiful day. I love fall in Western PA...when the colors really start to turn, I'll post some pictures.
Next up and the agenda...GCCOC Pig Roast this coming weekend. We can't wait! Then, the Titan Traverse Fall Break trip to New River Gorge...climbing and white water rafting. We're very excited for that as well! It should be a fun couple of weeks. We certainly have no lack of adventure!
